Unit Plan #5: Honors Biology C Block Mrs. Wissler 12/1/15 to 12/23/15
CELL ENERGY
Student will be able to:
- Describe the light and dark reactions of photosynthesis including the location of these reactions.
- Understand the processes of glycolysis, the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain in cell respiration.
- Identify the major pathways of anaerobic respiration (fermentation).
- Explain the interrelated nature of photosynthesis and cellular respiration in the cells of photosynthetic organisms. (MCAS 2.4)
- Explain the important role that ATP serves in metabolism. (MCAS 2.5)
Essential Questions:
- How do the basic building blocks of organic matter affect and contribute to life as a process?
- How do systems function?
Central Concepts:
Chemical elements form organic molecules that interact to perform the basic functions of life.
Homeostasis allows the body to perform its normal functions.
